Dr. Rosen is a vitreoretinal surgeon and consultant at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary where he serves as Vice Chairman and Director of Ophthalmology Research, as well as Surgeon Director and Chief of Retinal Services. Dr. Rosen is Professor of Ophthalmology at the Ican School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Visiting Professor in Applied Optics at the University of Kent in Canterbury, UK. His received his bachelor’s degree in psychology and anthropology at the University of Michigan and his MD from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He also did graduate work in psychophysics in the Laboratory of Neuromagnetism at New York University, and worked for several years as a professional photographer in New York City, with an interest in ophthalmic/scientific photography.

He has published 31 research articles in international scientific journals contributed as author/co-author.

James V. Aquavella, MD was the first fellowship trained cornea surgeon when he was recruited to Rochester by the then Chair of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester, John Gipner, MD. He had trained at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Naples School of Medicine, Kings County Hospital, Harvard’s Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and the Schepens Research Institute. He subsequently founded and became first president of the Cornea Society; President of the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmology; Director of the Eye Bank Association of America; consultant to the Food and Drug Administration; and Director of Tissue Banks International.

Dr. Khanna’s research focuses on delineating the molecular mechanisms involved in retinal development and function and how their dysregulation causes disease. He utilizes genetic, cell biological and biochemical approaches to understand the mechanisms of retinal degenerative diseases and utilize the knowledge to develop new treatment paradigms. Dr. Khanna was the first to demonstrate the potential of minigenes to delay retinal degeneration in a severe form of human childhood blindness disorder.

In 2003 obtain government award “Honored scientific worker of Ukraine”, in 2009 & 2018 “Honored princess Olga award” III & II degree.

She has worked in the primary eye care field and has collaborated with the center of research for contact lenses “CERCA” at the University of Salento. In 2020 she won the Italian and EMEA FORCE competitions (Future Ocular Research Creativity Event), publishing an article on her clinical research in a well-known peer-reviewed journal. She also achieved a master’s degree in Posturology and Basic Biomechanics and a specialization course in Visual Training to expand her knowledge in these fields. She has also spoken at industry-leading events. As an optometrist, she strives to assist every patient with advanced and quality eye care, dispensing contact lenses and spectacles, and performing binocular vision assessment.
