Albert Augustine

Prof. Dr. med. Albert J. Augustin received his doctorate summa cum laude from the University of Würzburg and has been director of the eye clinic at the Karlsruhe Clinic since 2001. In the course of his scientific career, he published several papers in the field of ophthalmology and reviewed publications for Ophthalmic Research, Documenta Ophthalmological, Opthalmology, and others. He also worked as a professor at the University of Mainz. Prof. Augustin is a member of numerous national and international specialist societies and participates in committees of the Baden-Württemberg State Medical Association.

Richard Rosen

Dr. Rosen is a vitreoretinal surgeon and consultant at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary where he serves as Vice Chairman and Director of Ophthalmology Research, as well as Surgeon Director and Chief of Retinal Services. Dr. Rosen is Professor of Ophthalmology at the Ican School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Visiting Professor in Applied Optics at the University of Kent in Canterbury, UK. His received his bachelor’s degree in psychology and anthropology at the University of Michigan and his MD from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He also did graduate work in psychophysics in the Laboratory of Neuromagnetism at New York University, and worked for several years as a professional photographer in New York City, with an interest in ophthalmic/scientific photography.

Mohamed Tawfik

Dr. Mohamed Tawfik is an Ophthalmology Consultant at the El Ferdous Eye Hospital in Zagazig, Egypt. He is also a Consultant Vitreoretinal Ophthalmologist at the Memorial Institute of Ophthalmological Research in Giza. In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Tawfik is involved in various medical education and ophthalmological research activities. His areas of interest include cataract, refractive and retina surgery.

Enrico Peiretti

Enrico Peiretti is currently working as Assistant Professor and Head at the Medical Retina Service, Eye Clinic, University of Cagliari. He has completed his M.D. in Ophthalmology from same University. He is also working on many research projects as principal investigator and co-investigator. He is member of Societa Oftalmologica Italiana, American Academy Ophtalmology, Societe Francaise de Ophtalmologistes, and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmologys, and American Society of Retina Specialists. He is expert in Cataract Surgery (more than 3000 operations), expert in small Gauge VR surgery (more than 700 operations) and good experience in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery and Lachrymal system expert for laser treatments in Anterior and Posterior Segment of the eye. He has more than more than 10 years expertise in Medical Retina internationally recognized and affiliated with different research group’s worldwide good experience in clinical trials and author of many papers and research projects, teacher at the University for Residents in Ophthalmology and full trained Vitreous-Retina Surgeon. He has published 31 research articles in international scientific journals contributed as author/co-author.

James V. Aquavella

James V. Aquavella, MD was the first fellowship trained cornea surgeon when he was recruited to Rochester by the then Chair of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester, John Gipner, MD. He had trained at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Naples School of Medicine, Kings County Hospital, Harvard’s Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and the Schepens Research Institute. He subsequently founded and became first president of the Cornea Society; President of the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmology; Director of the Eye Bank Association of America; consultant to the Food and Drug Administration; and Director of Tissue Banks International.

Hemant Khanna

Dr. Khanna is an active member of Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), American Society of Cell and Gene Therapy (ASGCT), and American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO )and serves on review committees of ARVO and ASGCT. He is an ARVO Silver of ARVO award for exemplary contribution and dedication to ARVO.

Dr. Khanna’s research focuses on delineating the molecular mechanisms involved in retinal development and function and how their dysregulation causes disease. He utilizes genetic, cell biological and biochemical approaches to understand the mechanisms of retinal degenerative diseases and utilize the knowledge to develop new treatment paradigms. Dr. Khanna was the first to demonstrate the potential of minigenes to delay retinal degeneration in a severe form of human childhood blindness disorder.

Bobrova Nadiia

Prof. Bobrova N.F. is a leadership pediatric ophthalmologist in Ukraine, well known as an anterior eye segment microsurgeon and retinoblastoma diagnostic and treatment. In 1981 start to work at «The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine» as a junior, senior scientific worker, then Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology Department till now. In 1981 awarded Academic states of Candidate Degree (PhD). In 1992 awards Academic status of Doctor Degree, in 1999 – becomes Professor of Ophthalmology. In 2003 obtain government award “Honored scientific worker of Ukraine”, in 2009 & 2018 “Honored princess Olga award” III & II degree.

Marika Martena

Marika Martena is graduated in Optics and Optometry, Summa cum Laude, at the University of Salento (Italy). She has worked in the primary eye care field and has collaborated with the center of research for contact lenses “CERCA” at the University of Salento. In 2020 she won the Italian and EMEA FORCE competitions (Future Ocular Research Creativity Event), publishing an article on her clinical research in a well-known peer-reviewed journal. She also achieved a master’s degree in Posturology and Basic Biomechanics and a specialization course in Visual Training to expand her knowledge in these fields. She has also spoken at industry-leading events. As an optometrist, she strives to assist every patient with advanced and quality eye care, dispensing contact lenses and spectacles, and performing binocular vision assessment.
